Interested in working with me?
I work with a wide range of people experiencing many different things. From challenges to preventative care of their mental health.
I have been in private practice full time since 2020. I have been trained in many different types of therapy however I do not use just one type. I use multiple tools and I am open to new ways of working alongside my clients.
A few things I believe
Our relationship is everything. I talk about it a lot because it’s the best way to know if our sessions are actually helping. I’ll check in at the start and keep checking in as we go. How you feel with me matters.
I don’t take myself too seriously It’s pretty normal to hear laughter from my room. Showing up to better understand your behaviour, sit with your grief or improve your relationship with yourself or others does not always have to be heavy. Sometimes we have to just release energy in different ways. For me, it shows me there is connection and peace.
The feel of the space we are in is important If you are catching me online, you will get to see my space from behind me. If you are in person, you will get to experience my space designed with you in mind. If I can’t bring the Canadian forest to you, I can bring the feeling of the forest. I combine a room that is filled with dim lighting, comfy lounges and essential oils reflecting the smell of woods or peppermint. On occasion I will also burn sage or palos santos.
My education and clinical background is important however it is not the only thing that will determine your success with me. My training provides structure however my lived experience and commitment to my own self work is what brings it together.
Trauma lives in the body, not just the mind. I believe trauma is not about what happened, but what happened inside you as a result. It shows up in patterns, reactions, numbness, or feeling stuck, even when life looks “fine” on the outside. Trauma work doesn’t mean reliving the past or pushing through pain. It’s about going slowly, noticing what your body is holding, and creating enough safety for your system to settle. When the body feels safer, clarity and choice return.
You know your life better than anyone; I’m here to help you see it more clearly and understand how to create the life that is important to you.
What is counselling with me like? Counselling with me is conversational, reflective, and collaborative. We will spend time talking and making sense of what’s happening in your life. I use my skills to notice patterns that can be difficult to see on your own. Together we will work to change what is not working for and I will structure the sessions so you feel progress.
Sometimes sessions involve talking through grief, relationships, or decisions you’re facing. Other times we connect the symptoms you are experiencing in your body. Sometimes before we hold the words to explain we experience stress, tension, exhaustion, health problems or emotions that feel out of control.
Something happens when you feel you are being seen, heard, and understood by someone you feel safe with.
The feedback of those I work beside, my own self work and my own spiritual connections alongside my professional training is what leads the way in my work with you.
Your first step is to book a 15 minute chat. If you require more time, please book your first session.
